Vicki Overstreet - Biography

About the Artist

Vicki Overstreet Art

“He who works with his hands is a laborer. He who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman. He who works with his hands, his head, and his heart is an artist.”

St. Francis of Assisi

Vicki's artistic journey has been rooted in a painterly representational style for the past 30 years. Although her initial focus was more realistic painting, she has been exploring looser, abstract, and expressive works. Her pursuit of art began at The University of Mississippi where she received a BFA. Following graduation, she taught art in Georgia and Mississippi.

Vicki has studied oil painting with many artists throughout the country, and her pursuit of ”plein air” painting has taken her to many beautiful places to study and paint on-site. In the past five years, the study of abstract painting and acrylics has been an energizing pursuit. She has studied with Steven Aimone, Krista Harris, and Audrey Phillips.

Vicki and her husband Jim love to travel and have called Jackson, Mississippi home for the past 30+ years. They enjoy travel, walking Buddy the dog, and playing with their 5 grandchildren.
